First off, you should always prioritize your safety and never settle for second best in terms of camping gear.

You should always plan ahead on the kind of camping gear you are going to bring along for your trip.

Before going on that trip, make sure to asses how long are you going to be on it and equip yourself with the proper camping gear. It is always good to know that you are embarking on an adventure where you are fully prepared for what lies ahead no matter what and where it may be.

For a lot of first time campers, the thought of what camping gear to pack may be a dreadful one. The long list of camping gear that you may bring can even dampen your enthusiasm.

Just like other outdoor activities, bear in mind your safety always comes first. A lot of first time campers could also get confused with all the brands of camping gear available and would not know where to begin their search.

Camping gear you have to look for

Camping Tents - consider the size of the tent you wish to purchase depending on how many people are going to fit in them. You would like to be comfortable while taking your much needed rest. Inquire about the materials used in manufacturing the tent to know exactly how durable it is to rough conditions. Consider the brand of the tent and make sure that it is a reliable one.

Sleeping Bags - consider the available padding it comes with. Again, a comfortablesleeping bag is needed during tiring trips outdoors.

Does it help in repelling insects by the features that are included with them? Inquire about sleeping bags that keep you warm and free from moist to avoid unnecessary illness outdoors.

Cooking Equipment- this is a very important camping gear to have. Consider those that follow safety regulations and procedures. Pick those that are very easy to use to avoid complications while you are on your trip. Inquire about light weight cooking equipment that is also good quality to ensure that they do not break down on you while camping.

Camping Apparel- consider clothes that are easy to dry. Lightweight yet dependable with harsh weather conditions is something that you should look at also. Choose those that can keep you warm during those cold nights, and cool ventilated apparel to be used for long and exhausting hikes.

It is best to ask around for where you can get good and reliable camping gear. If you have experienced camper friends or family who can help recommend which brands to get, then that would be a good start in finding the camping gear you need.

It is always good to know that the gear you are about to purchase is tried and tested. You may also check out the internet for camping gear that is not only affordable, but also reliable as well. Remember to do your research about the gear first before purchasing it.

Winter Camp is not nearly as popular compared to the summer, but it is still enjoyed by many people. Most people avoid going outdoors in the winter because of the cold weather and deep snow. Although winter camping is not for everybody, there are some features that can make it enjoyable. Listed below are some of the benefits of camping at wintertime. Camping during the summertime is an activity that is enjoyed by thousands of families every year. The pleasant breeze and warm sun creates a perfect atmosphere that can be enjoyed by everybody regardless of their age, gender, or cultural background. There are plenty of activities to do during the summer, such as biking, boating, sports, and hiking. This can create a noisy and unpleasant atmosphere, especially if you are looking for peace and solitude in the wilderness. Summertime weather may be pleasant, but the atmosphere can resemble a city if it is filled with thousands of other campers.

Going hunting during the wintertime can be an enjoyable activity if you travel to a remote location. Hunting is actually easier in snowy climates because it allows for more camouflage, so the prey will not see you as easily. Snow is also difficult to travel quickly on, so the prey will not be able to escape as quickly. This past winter camp meeting has actually been a living-changing knowledge for myself, and a lot of other people. I pressed in and relied completely on the Holy Spirit to maintain me energized daily to achieve all that He set me out to do. I was at the church early for Hospitality Ministry, worked book tables, sang for worship, and was ready to participate in the worship experience of the evening companies also.

When going hunting during the winter, it is important to bring equipment for skinning the prey and making a fire. If the area is snowy, you can melt the snow to make water. The fire will also help to keep you warm during the night and keep other creatures from roaming around and causing a mess in your campsite. Though physically I was tired, the Lord sustained me. His strength was produced perfect wherever I was weak. Right after the evening meetings, I would go home and just rest in His existence, praying in the Holy Ghost and singing songs to the Lord. The presence of God was so powerful in the meetings, that when I would sing on the platform, the anointing brought on me to practically fall numerous occasions.

If you go outdoors in the wintertime, you will not need to worry about overcrowded areas. With the exception of ski resorts, most outdoor areas have minimal visitors during the winter. This is perfect for campers who want to spend time alone in the wild with minimal distractions from other people. Since the weather is cold, you will need to purchase a good set of waterproof trousers and jackets to keep your body warm. Women’s and men’s waterproof trousers for winter have thick insulation to keep the warm air in and the cold air out. . Unlike during summer season where you have to book in advance to be able to get a spot in camping sites and rely on the description on a brochure, in winter camping that is no longer required. Often time, you can just turn up on the camping site right there and pick the best spot. Because the camp ground is relatively empty, there may even be enough space for you to do all your activities such as sledding and skiing.

However, it is more than possible to kayak at all times of the year as long as the weather permits it and the water is not frozen. While kayaking is often a safe and relatively stress free sport to engage in, as with any sport or situation that involves bodies of water, there are still several precautions you should be prepared to take to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you. If you happen to be paddling or kayaking with children, it is even more important to be aware of basic safety principles and techniques so you can not only take good care of your life but look after the younger members of your kayaking group. One of those situations where both you and any youngsters around you should know how to take care of yourselves is the all too common scenario of deep water re-entry. This article will discuss some principles and safety practices of deep water re-entry so you and your children can practice them the next time you are out in your kayaks on a still body of water.

If you ever plan to go kayaking or fishing in bodies of water that are deeper than you are all, you will want to make it a priority to be comfortable with getting back into your kayak if you happen to fall out of it while on the water. Learning to do this can save your life. If you have children who go out with you onto the water in their own kayaks, this is a skill that you should have them learn as well on the off chance that they also fall out. A great time to learn such a skill is during the summer when the water is likely to be a bit warmer, but you can practice it at any time of the year as long as you take the proper clothing precautions.

The first step is to find a body of water that will be deep enough for you to submerge yourself if you fall out of your kayak. Good places to try in your local area are small lakes or ponds that contain still water and where you will not have to watch out for larger vessels or heavy sea traffic. It is essential to have another person in a kayak close by so you can get help if you need any. You should perform a dry run beforehand, keeping all of your important equipment on the banks of the water so they will not be in danger of getting lost. Take yourself, your paddle, your kayak, and your personal floatation device along with you. When you perform the exercise, leash your paddle down so it doesn’t float away. You will also want to try a re-entry with a fully loaded kayak later on once you become comfortable with the procedure in an empty kayak.

The first step is to flip your kayak over. You can usually do this in most kayak models simply by rocking from one side to the other with as much effort as you can muster until the kayak flips over. Once you are in the water, the next step will be to re right your kayak. You can do this in a number of ways depending on how and where your body strength is distributed and the particular type of kayak you are trying to flip and re-enter. Perhaps the simplest way is to press one side up as hard as you can and flip the kayak over, but this method will not work in kayaks that are designed to be more stable. Another way is to reach to the far side handle of the kayak while reaching underneath the kayak and pull that side toward you underwater while simultaneously pushing the side closer to you upward. You can also try this way over the water if this method doesn’t work. Once righted, push yourself up into the kayak.

The very nature of it is cheap, designed for a frugal person on a budget. There are all sorts of places to go and things to see without having to empty one’s wallet in order to get there. This gets a bit harder if one lives in the city, but it is surprising how many good hiking trails there are close to urban centers, where just a short drive can make one feel as if they are in the middle of the wilderness. Many hiking areas are also government protected, and thus government funded. There are a plethora of opportunities to get out and experience the world in all its natural beauty, something that is new for many and well-loved by many more.

For starters, it’s all about finding the right place to go. Michigan’s Upper Peninsular has miles and miles of open land that is owned by the government, and places such as Tahquamenon Falls and Pictured Rocks have hiking trails that one can take for free. These are quite a drive to get to, so gas has to be factored in, but the actual hike itself is free. There scenery there is beautiful and will leave the hiker very satisfied with what they saw and experienced. The nice thing about hiking is just that open land is always so perfect to those who love the out of doors, and so a fancy destination is not required.

Another great spot to go is the Grand Canyon. The hike is free and there are even guided tours that are free, as the government pays for them. The guides are very knowledgeable and will tell the hikers many fascinating things about the canyon as they go down and come back up again. This is worth it for certain; many times attractions like the Grand Canyon are forgotten simply because they are so well-known. People are always looking for newer and greater ideas, and have a tendency to forget that some of the popular ones became that way for a reason. The Grand Canyon is certainly one of those attractions, and it is ideal for those not looking to spend a lot of money.

To save money on equipment, something that every frugal hiker is looking to do, buying second-hand is a great way to go. This works for the gear that needs to be of a high quality: boots and the like. Many people will sell good hiking boots online or through second-hand shops not because the gear is of a poor quality, but because they feel that they do not use it enough to justify owning it. This can be a goldmine to those looking to get into the activity, since hiking boots that have been used twice are almost as good as boots that have never been used, and they come at half the price.

A lot of the gear can be found at department stores. A specialty store will charge twice what a department store will for a simple t-shirt or a heavy jacket for cold weather hiking. Making use of these savings may not seem like a lot to start, but it all adds up. If one buys some good jeans, a jacket, and a number of t-shirts from a big department store instead of a specialty store, the price tag could be cut in half. Things of that nature do not need to be of any specific quality; the specialty stores just are able to raise the prices since the atmosphere in the store makes people feel they are getting better equipment.

Frugal hiking is very possible, since hiking is at the core a simple and inexpensive hobby. Travel costs are going to be the worst, so using frequent flier miles are carpooling with other hikers would save a lot of the money that the trip costs. From the beginning hiker to the most experienced, all can cut down on the price of hiking and concentrate more fully on having a great time out in the wilderness and enjoying nature.

Whether you plan to go for an RV camping trip or go backpacking, a camping tent should be part of your gear. Remember that camping is never complete if you do not get to sleep in tents and that as kids is an experience you would not want to miss. There are tents specifically designed for families that offer them privacy, comfort and safety while out in the wilderness. Dome tents are great family tents as you can house your entire family under one roof and you can even have two rooms separated by a sort of living area. Your kids can take one room and they will feel safe enough knowing that you are just on the other side of the tent.

Dome tents can be appreciated more by kids as they do have space to play even inside especially when it rains. They would not have time to get bored just lounging on their sleeping bags as they can still get on with their antics even if they are cooped inside the tent. You can include in your camping plan some games that you can play inside the tent when the situation asks for it in order to keep the kids occupied. These high ceiling tents are also perfect to help you change clothes and you are able to utilize every part of tent. You have enough space to bring in most of your gear that you do no want left out in the open.

To keep the bugs off, be sure to include camping products such as insect repellant and bug spray. There are sure to be mosquitoes and you would want your kids to be safe and able to enjoy the outdoors without being bitten by these insects. You should also bring with you UV protection and sunburn lotion to be on the safe side. As much as you want to ensure that your camping site is safe for your kids, it is still best to bring along your first aid kit so you are prepared for any eventuality.

Food is also a priority when it comes to camping. There should be enough to ensure that your kids are well fed and in high spirits so they can truly enjoy the camping experience. If you plan to do some fishing or a bit of exploring with your kids, you have to make certain you have the right camping products to help you with these activities. It is not that difficult to make your camping trip an experience that your kids will remember and cherish as long as you make the right plans and prepare well for it.

There are millions of people everywhere who enjoy the relaxation of camping. Whether youre spending the weekend camping with your family at the local state park or backpacking through the backcountry, there are some general rules of camping safety that you should always follow. Many of these camping safety tips are simply common sense, but it is still a good idea to review these guidelines before setting out for any type of outdoor adventure.

General Camping Safety
Camping safety begins before you ever set out on your vacation. Check the weather forecast ahead of time and be prepared for rain or storms. Pack emergency rain gear, as well as a well-stocked first aid kit, and plan to arrive at your campsite as early as possible. You want plenty of time to set up camp before the sun sets.

Upon arrival, inspect your campsite closely for glass and harmful debris, poisonous plants and animals, and areas that may be prone to flooding in the case of a heavy downpour. Set up your tent on flat ground and remove any rocks, branches, or other objects that could damage your tent or be uncomfortable to sleep on.

If you are camping with children, check the campsite closely for fire ants, hornet or wasp nests, dangerous grades, and other potential hazards before settling in. Wear light colors and refrain from using scented lotions, soaps, and perfumes to prevent attracting bees and mosquitoes. Coleman citronella candles can ward off mosquitoes as well.

Use caution whenever you operate your propane stove or grill and anytime you have a campfire. Never leave any of these unattended. Keep your campsite clean, storing food in closed containers and disposing of garbage, to reduce the chances of bears, raccoons, or other wild animals entering your campsite. Never keep food items inside your tent.

Hiking and Outdoor Activity Safety
Anytime you decide to enjoy the great outdoors, it is important to remember that you are in natures domain. To stay safe, it is your responsibility to follow the proper safety precautions. It is a good idea to become familiar with poisonous and harmful plants, animals, and insects that are common to your area. Always carry a small first aid kit while hiking or biking and have knowledge of first aid procedures for outdoors. If you should come in contact with poison ivy or sumac, apply calamine lotion to the infected area to relieve the itching.

Stay on the designated trail and avoid high grass and overgrowth. Wear light colors so ticks are easy to spot and check your head and body for any possible ticks each night. If you find a tick that has already bitten, remove it gently with tweezers, taking care not to crush the body or leave the head. Clean the bite area with warm water and soap and see a doctor if you experience a fever or rash within the next few days or if you think the tick was attached for more than 2 days.

Never enjoy the beauty of nature alone. Have at least one companion with you wherever you go and whatever you are doing outdoors and tell your friends and family where you will be and how long you plan to be gone.

You can enjoy back country camping all year long in many parts of North America as long as you have prepared for your adventure. While you can often wing it while camping out in the wilderness there are some basics that you should follow to make sure that you have a safe trip. This will enable you to get the most out of it.

If you’re not familiar with the region that you’re going to be camping in it’s a good idea to do some research to find out as much as you can. You’ll be able to search for it on the internet and from camping guidebooks etc. It’s also important that you know the weather patterns in the area too. There are basically four seasons in most of North America and you usually have to prepare differently for each season.

There could be certain hazards that you have to be aware of. These could include extreme temperatures, floods, mud slides, and avalanches etc.

You also need to know if there is any hunting allowed in the regions you plan to camp in. The last thing you want to do is be mistaken for some kind of game animal.

And speaking of animals, make sure you know what type of wildlife and insects are common to the camping areas.

Water is essential for any back country camping trip, meaning it’s important to take your own or make sure you know where you can get some. Carrying water can be quite cumbersome though, so knowing where there’s a water source will be a big bonus.

Of course, you’ll need to have a camping checklist to make sure you don’t forget any of the essentials that will be needed. Try and keep all of your items in just one backpack if possible. Some of the things you’ll need to take along with you include a water pump/filter, food, a portable stove, the appropriate clothing, a tent and sleeping bag, rope, a lamp, sunscreen, insect repellent, a first aid kit, a compass, and cell phone.

There will be some other items needed, depending on where you’re going to be camping and the time of the year that you’re taking the trip. Before leaving, make sure you inform other people where you’re heading and how long you’ll be gone. Give them a copy of your plans, including camping location and route if possible.

When you reach the back country area where you want to camp, try and find a site that’s close to a source of water. This will make it easier to transport to your tent. Having a tree close by is also a good idea as it will allow you to use it for shade. You can also use the branches to hang clothes on and fix up a pulley system if you want to store food and other items out of the reach of animals. The area you camp in should also have a decent natural drainage system so you don’t get flooded if it rains heavily.

Hikers, backpackers, and campers are attracted to Wekiwa Springs State Park in Florida because there are so many outdoor activities to enjoy. Some of the most popular ones are cycling, swimming, snorkelling, fishing, and horseback riding.

The 7,000 acre park sits about 20 miles to the north of Orlando and is one of the best wilderness sites in the area. The region was originally settled by the Timucuan Indians who used to feed themselves by spearing fish and hunting the area’s wildlife.

There’s a spring in the park which pumps approximately 42 million gallons of water daily which is used as the snorkelling and swimming area. This is actually where the name of the park originates as the work Wekiwa means bubbling water or spring of water in Creek Indian.

The park is ideal for camping as the campground is made up of two loops. There are 60 campsites which are suitable for tents, RV’s and pop-ups. All of the sites come with water and electrical hook-ups as well as a grill, picnic table, lantern pole, and fire ring. The campground loops lie near the hiking trails.

There’s also a nearby pavilion where park rangers supply information about the park. They’ll let you know about the local wildlife and tell you which types of plants you should try to stay away from. You’ll also find restrooms and hot showers close to the campsites.

There’s a 13-mile long hiking trail which features two campsites for backpackers and hikers. Each of these sites can accommodate up to 10 campers on a first-come first-served basis. These sites are ideal for those people who’d like to get away from the activities of the family camping areas. Just remember that all firewood, food, and water need to be packed while trash has to be packed out. You’ll be allowed to light a fire in the ground grills that are provided.

You’ll also find there are five campsites designated for kayak and canoe camping down by the 17-mile long Wekiwa River and the nine-mile long Rock Springs Run. These sites can also accommodate up to 10 people. Again, fires are allowed in the ground grills and tents can only be pitched at the designated campsites. Reservations are needed at these sites and you can rent kayaks and canoes.

The hiking trails enable you to get a good look at the local animal and plant life. You’ll find things such as foxes, deer, bears, bobcats, gopher tortoises, herons, eagles, and egrets. The eco systems vary as the conditions range from sandy and dry to swampy and wet. You’ll find that cyclists and horseback riders share some of the park’s trails.

The longest trail takes you to Sand Lake and Lake Prevatt, but you need to keep your eye out for possible alligators in them. There’s a shorter trail loop available, which is just over five miles in length. The end of this trail also takes you alongside Lake Prevatt. The trails are all marked out, but you should still take a compass and map with you.

Central Florida’s Wekiwa Springs State Park is a wonderful location for people to enjoy the great outdoors. It’s ideal for solo travelers and as a spot to visit with friends and/or family.
