Coleman Tents – The Truth about Used Camping Gear

Camping has always been seen as the less expensive way to go on a vacation. For some campers, there are even more ways to cut down the budget further when going on a camping trip. One of these is to purchase used camping gear.

Used camping gear has been growing more and more popular these days as more campers begin to rely on these less expensive camping equipment. However, many experienced campers agree that brand new camping equipment is still the safer choice.

Jeremy Thomas, 57, a camper for 26 years told us that he has tried used camping gear only once but that one time had become a disastrous event. “I tried this tent before I bought it and I was so sure that it was working out perfectly fine but during the camping day, without any warning my tent suddenly fell apart. And because it was raining, me and my family got completely drenched. I swore never to use second-hand camping gear again,” he related.

It was not any different with the case of Karina Shaw, 23, who has just started going on camping trips. “My friends told me based from their experience that it’s okay to buy used camping gear but it turns out that it’s not. I bought this slightly-used heater from a garage sale. It was okay at first but then it suddenly just stopped working. It was the longest coldest night of my life.”

However, not all stories on used camping gear are horror stories. There are some campers who were luckier with their used camping gear experience.

“I’ve used second-hand even third-hand camping gear almost my entire life and never had I encountered any bad experience. I just make sure that I only buy those that are in good working condition and have money-back guarantee in case it doesn’t work,” Karen Leigh, 38, said.

Another used camping gear avid user is Jonathan Wells, 28, who has been camping for two years. “I love camping but I can’t afford to buy new equipment. Used camping gear gives me the chance to do what I love without having to spend too much.”

Looking at both sides, the primary pro of used camping gear is the price. And with the rising costs of everything in today’s society, it’s hard to take this for granted. On the other hand, the main disadvantage of this is the risk of poor quality which you will hardly encounter if you purchase brand new camping equipment.

“The trick to buying used camping gear is to buy from people you know. This way you can be sure that you can trust that the equipment won’t fail you,” Leigh recommended.

Thomas, on the other hand, urges campers to rely only on brand new camping equipment. He points out that there are many brand new high-quality camping equipment that are very much affordable like Coleman Tents for example. “The little amount that you save from buying used camping gear is just not worth the risk.”

Whichever choice you end up with, the important thing is to always make quality your top priority over price. This way, you can be assured of a memorable and wonderful camping trip.

You don’t really need to give your kids any big responsibilities while they are out in the wild, but you do need to make sure that your kids have fun while they are out there.

The best way to make sure that your children have a wonderful time camping is to give them everything that they are going to need on their trip.

The first thing that any child is going to want before they go camping is some kind of tent with crazy designs on the outside. Once you have a tent, the kid isn’t really going to care about anything else you get them.

For this reason, you just need to make sure that they have sleeping bags and comfortable sleeping arrangements for their time out in the woods.

There are also plenty of different activities that children can benefit from out in the wild, and this is the category that will have more kids camping gear than anything else. If your child is going to have fun while you are on your camping trip then you need to make sure they have plenty of activities to do out there. Your child will have fun in the tent at night, but they still need something to fill their time during the day.
Where do you get your kids camping gear?

There are plenty of stores that will sell kids camping gear because most businesses know that plenty of children like the idea of going camping. The best part about a kid wanting to go camping is that they can sleep outside in their own backyard. It doesn’t take much for a kid to get excited about something, so camping in the backyard is usually a great first step towards something bigger.

If you are just going to be camping in the backyard then you don’t really need to worry about getting a lot of equipment for your young ones. You will only be a few feet away from everything that you need in your home, so pillows and blankets are really all you are going to need to bring in that tent. You will be able to go back into the house to use the bathroom or get something to eat whenever you’d like, so there is really no reason to worry about stuff like that.
Let your child pick some equipment out

You should let your child decide what kind of kids camping gear they would like to get, and perhaps you could even get your child some camping gear for Christmas or their birthday. These are usually the perfect time to give your child some camping gear because they will be surprised by the prospect of going camping with their mom and dad in the near future.

Summer time: time for outdoor fun and Feng Shui.

When the warm weather comes we do maintenance on our homes and cars, we switch to our summer wardrobe, and pull out the grilling and sports equipment. But in the excitement of summer finally being here do we take the time to look at what stuff from previous summers we have stashed away?

What is your favorite way to enjoy nature?

As part of my Feng Shui seasonal de-cluttering I am donating a set of cross-country skis and a pair of rollerblades I haven’t used in years.

In that pile of sneakers and boots by the back door, how many are out–of-season and need to be stored until fall? How many pairs of sneakers have simply died and need to be thrown out?

Do you have:

sporting equipment that is broken, out-of-date, or unused because you are no longer interested?

camping equipment that hasn’t been used in donkey’s years?

summer supplies that are inherited and unused?

unused suitcases and travel accessories taking up space in the closet, attic or basement?

grilling gizmos that looked good at the time, but never worked out?

Are your summers stuck in the past? If so, that means less energy for the present and future.

Unused things become clutter. Clutter is an energy drain. Now is the time to clear these things out. Repair what you will genuinely use, donate and make someone else’s summer more fun, and trash what is too broken to repair or donate. Give yourself the gift of room and energy for this summer’s fun.

Note: check with your designated charity regarding what items they can and can’t accept.

Now I have the space and energy for my new bike! What do you want to have the energy for this summer?

Reprinted from: Camping Tourist

Most people remember to bring all of the camping equipment that they are going to need on a camping trip, but camping tools are something that often get left behind and forgotten. Nobody remembers that you may need to bring certain tools with you on a camping trip because nobody thinks about the things that could go wrong on a trip. You should always come prepared when you go into the wild because you never know what kind of tasks are going to come your way.

There are many different camping tools that you should look into getting if you are getting about your camping on a regular basis. Most people know about the simple tools that you will need while you are out in the wild, such as a knife or can opener. Many people even have tools than can multitask and fold out into make different types of tools.

The multitask tools are usually the best ones to have because they can help you get out of any kind of situation. Some of them will even have a little flashlight on them, which can be a real life saver out in the wild at night.

Everyone needs to be able to see when they are out in the woods, so a flashlight is always one of the main tools that you need to bring.

Picking out the camping tools for your trip

There are certain camping tools that you need to make sure you have with you at all times in the wild because sometimes you can get stuck between a rock and a hard place. You need to be able to cook your foods and open up cans, but these are things that you usually don’t think about before you leave. Make sure you have all of the tools that you are going to need while you are out in the wild and far away from home.

A knife is something that you are definitely going to need out in the woods because you never know when you are going to need to cut something. Sometimes you need to cut some rope for some kind of game or perhaps you will need to cut some branches out of your way while you are hiking. No matter what you are doing when you go camping, you are going to need plenty of different tools to survive out there.

Don’t leave your tools at home

You have to make sure you pack up everything before you leave because you don’t want to end up leaving any camping tools at home. The best idea is to make a checklist and check it off before you leave the home. This way, you can make sure that you don’t forget anything and you can rest assured knowing that you have everything that you are going to need on this camping trip. It’s always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to bring all of your tools.

You may be looking for some tips on one man camping gear if you’re getting ready to head out by yourself for some camping time. You’ll need to gather some good equipment, including a tent, or a sleeping bag and mosquito net, or perhaps a sheltered hammock. You’ll want to take some basic cooking and eating utensils, maybe some fishing tackle, and a book or two. You may even need a compass. This article will cover the basics of what you may need or want in one man camping gear on your hiking and camping adventure.

Backpacks

As you head out, you’ll want to carry everything you’ll need in your (lightweight) backpack. One recommended backpack is theTETON Sports Explorer 4000 Internal Frame Backpack. This is a great choice in sturdy, roomy backpacks for hiking or camping. It is very durable, and only weighs about 5 pounds.

Another popular choice for a backpack is the Cuscus Internal Frame Camping and Hiking Backpack. This is a multiday mountaineering backpack with lots of room, padded straps and zippered pockets.

One Man Camping Gear: Tents

Next you need to consider your tent. Here are a few of the best one-man camping tents for your consideration. To see more, check out the Best One Man Camping Tents article on this site.

The Eureka! Backcountry 1 tent is stylish, lightweight and comfortable. Another great one person tent by Eureka! is their Solitaire tent.

If you want to combine several aspects of camping into one tent you will love the one-person Pop-Up Mosquito-Net Tent by SansBug. This tent is easy to set up, keeps the bugs out and is lightweight.

Camping Hammocks

Another sleeping option is the hammock. If the weather is agreeable, you may want to sleep under the stars in a hammock. Depending on the conditions, you may need a rain-proof cover, and/or a mosquito net. Here are some options for one man camping gear hammocks.

The Skeeter Beeter Pro Hammock by Grand Trunk
is a very versatile hammock. Made of parachute silk, it is lightweight and strong, and protects you from mosquitos.

Another mosquito-free hammock is the “No-See-Um No More Hammock” by Hammock Bliss, which has even finer netting to keep out all kinds of small creatures.

You’ll be amazed at the way a SingleNest Hammock by Eagles Nest Outfitters packs up for the hike. It is roughly the size of a softball when you pack it up to fit into your backpack.

Sleeping Bags

Here are a couple of the best-selling and highest rated sleeping bags. They come in many styles and price ranges, so you can find what you need. You can do some research on sleeping bags at Amazon.

One top-rated Sleeping Bag is the Adult Adventurer Mummy, Ultra-Compactable made by Suisse Sport. Another one, for really cold weather, is the Lakeside, 40-Degree Sleeping Bag by Wenzel.

Camping Chairs

After you choose your campsite and set up your tent or hammock, you’ll want to sit down and relax, and maybe take out a good book or just appreciate your surroundings. You’ll need to unpack and unfold your camping chair right about now. Here are a few chairs that may fit the bill.

ALPS has a Mountaineering Escape Camp Chair which comes with its own Footrest and Shoulder Carry Bag. There’s also a Texsport bazaar armchair which folds easily and comes with its own shoulder carrying bag.

Cooking and Eating

You’ll probably want to take some food with you. You may choose from a prepared food or you may want to cook at your campsite. Either way an outdoor kitchen set will come in handy

The GSI Crossover Kitchen Kit set has everything you need to cook, clean up and store your camping food. You may want to get a Coleman one-burner propane stove for heating up or cooking.

Books & Other Camping Gear

You may also want to consider taking a sleeping pad, a water filter, a flashlight, lantern or headlamp, and/or a handheld GPS for finding your way around.

You may also want to read up on camping gear before you go, and one recommended book is The Ultimate Hiker’s Gear Guide: Tools and Techniques to Hit the Trail. It’s a great book for campers, both new and experienced, and gives tips for exactly what you need to take on your camping adventure.

I hope this helps you with your plans as you get ready for your one-man camping trip. When camping you should be safe, have fun and enjoy the journey. If you take all the one man camping gear that you need, it will definitely help you have a safe, fun and memorable experience.

There are as a lot of kinds of hiking boots as there are hikers. The specific issues to look at when selecting your hiking boots will depend on the types of hiking you are arranging to do. In this write-up, I will classify hiking boots (or hiking footwear) into 4 most important kinds, corresponding to four primary varieties of hiking.
The four kinds of hiking boots that we will talk about are:
Hiking shoes and sandals. For short walks in the outdoors, for knocking around in camp, and for use throughout easy interludes in an otherwise severe hike.
Day-hiking boots. For moderate hiking, such as day hikes or short hikes in quite rough country.
Backpacking boots. For more really serious hiking, like multi-day backpacking expeditions.
Mountaineering boots. For the most really serious hiking, mountain climbing, and ice climbing.
There is some overlap, of course, and a great deal of mixing.
Most folks who use anything beyond hiking shoes also use a thing in a single of the lower categories. For instance, when I go camping, I bring each my day-hiking boots for the all-day hikes and my hiking shoes for the much less-critical treks with the grandchildren. As another instance, I generally see ice climbers arriving at Arethusa Falls wearing day-hiking boots, then switching to mountaineering boots for the actual climb.
For the most element, it will be okay to get a extra significant hiking boot than you will need. A single exception is that if you seriously don’t need to have mountaineering boots, you would in all probability come across them uncomfortably heavy on a tiny day hike. Do not go as well far upscale. Even the extra expense of buying “more boot than you have to have” could actually operate out to be a savings in the lengthy run, simply because a improved high quality boot will likely last longer.
Now, let’s talk about the general issues and considerations that go into deciding on a pair of hiking boots.
Preserve in thoughts that the objective of footwear is to protect your feet. This amounts to four specific purposes:
Warmth, in season
Protection from rough surfaces and sharp objects
Traction
Keeping your feet dry
That is about it.
Most of what you read about “assistance” is overblown. If you give your feet and ankles a lot of “assistance,” the all-natural support technique becomes weak from underutilization. Unless you have some particular weakness in your ankles, whether or not innate or from an injury, you do not necessarily need to have ankle support. Let the muscles and ligaments of your feet and ankles do what they were developed to do, and you will have all the “assistance” you require.
On the other hand, you do need to have arch help. Why? Because your feet were developed to walk on a natural, yielding surface that conforms itself to the shape of your feet. When you strap a stiff, unyielding shoe sole to the bottom of your foot, your arches are unduly stressed. You will need the bottom of the boot to conform to the shape of the bottom of your foot, and to keep that way as you walk. That is arch assistance.
What about men’s versus women’s hiking boots? The only real difference is in proportions. For a given length of foot, a woman’s foot is usually narrower than a man’s and has larger arches. Women’s hiking boots are designed accordingly. If you are a man with narrow feet and/or high arches, do not be afraid to look at “women’s” hiking boots, or if you happen to be a lady with low arches and/or wide feet, the hiking cops will not give you a ticket for wearing “men’s” hiking boots. Get the hiking boots that fit your feet.
Do not forget socks. You will have to have warm socks, additional than one pair in winter, so make certain your hiking boots let space for them. When you go shopping for hiking boots, bring the type of socks you intend to put on on hikes, so you can check the fit of the boots with the socks on.
Appear for great superior, and expect to spend for it. If you’re hunting for fashion and the latest trends, you are going to pay a premium for that, too. What I look for is commonly last year’s great quality, so I get the excellent I want with out paying for the style that I do not care about.
Here’s a fast guideline to set your expectations about the fees: Expect to spend considerably far more for your hiking boots than for your backpack. The suitable boots for a given sort of hiking will probably price 1.five to two occasions as considerably as the appropriate backpack. If you are organizing to do only 1-day hikes with a forty-dollar daypack, you will be effectively served to look at sixty-dollar day-hiking boots. But if you happen to be arranging to through-hike the Appalachian Trail, you are going to want at least a hundred-dollar expedition backpack and you need to be hunting seriously at paying $150 or a lot more for your hiking boots.
There are complex engineering trade-offs in hiking boots. Light weight is great. Sturdy is fantastic. Lengthy wearing properties are fantastic. Traction and gripping power is great. Affordable is very good. But sturdy boots are heavy. Hiking boots with great traction wear easily. And of those four properties – light weight, sturdiness, lengthy wearing, and superior traction – only light weight comes cheaply. So all hiking boots represent compromises among these four qualities.
That’s the major picture with hiking boots. Pick the appropriate kind of boot for the kind of hiking you will be performing, pick the balance you want amongst weight and sturdiness, and choose the right fit.

If you’re going on vacation to the backcountry then you need to have to make sure that you have the correct camping gear. If you are used to only camping with a tent then you have to have to try out a hammock to give you a considerably much more true experience of sleeping out under the stars. Numerous people never ever go back to a tent as soon as they have slept out overnight in a hammock and this explains why men and women are now picking hammocks uk wide . There is nothing at all like falling asleep at the stars and waking up to the sunlight.

Although these may seem like relatively minor things to deal with at the time, if you don’t do something about them, they could quickly become a problem, which may spell a quick end for your trip.

1. Blisters. Open foot sores are a common and painful occurrence when it comes to hiking. They can be difficult to account for, and while a small blister may seem like a relatively minor occurrence, enough friction and overuse can cause it to break open and become infected. The moment you notice yourself developing one, you’ll want to take action, just to be on the safe side. Use a sterile pin and pop the blister open, allowing it to drain. Do your best to keep the skin intact as you clean the wound. Throughout your trek, make sure it’s padded and bandaged appropriately to avoid having it split open again. It sounds unsavory, but you’ll be glad you did when you get back to camp.

2. Posture. You’re probably carrying a fair amount of camping equipment with you, which means you’re going to want to ensure that your posture is good. All of that weight can start to take a toll on your back when all’s said and done, especially after having spent hours making your way down the trail. In order to avoid complications, try to maintain good posture throughout your time in the backcountry by constantly ensuring that your back is straight and upright. Don’t overpack and try to spread the weight out evenly across your hips and shoulders so that you don’t overwork one or the other.

3. Rest. Fatigue can exacerbate your symptoms pretty quickly, so be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to rest and recover. If you’re out camping for a long time, it’s worth taking one day out of the week and only putting in a minimal number of miles, if not staying put entirely. You can also use this day to seek medical advice about any lingering issues that you think could become a more serious problem down the line.

Before a person start searching for camping supplies, you ought to determine where you are going camping, what else you are planning to carry out and also exactly who is traveling together with you.

In case you will merely heading on a hiking vacation together with your family, you will need a huge selection of camping equipment. The very basic of all is normally the tent. Consider about exactly how many people might be resting in the tent, but think also about things for instance how long you are likely to spend within the tent as well as the climate conditions of the place you are going camping. When it is pretty breezy, for example, you might need a stronger model of tent. When you are heading somewhere with frequent rainfall and you really are likely to spend quite a lot of time inside your tent, you might need a bigger model.

Whenever you have been seeking for camping gear as you are going trekking, you could perhaps need a little, handy tent. Perhaps a popup tent, with space for just one individual, is often a nice idea. Just for instance, a bunch of families appreciate going kayaking, devoting many days cruising across a river and camping at the river bank night after night. For this scenario, you do require something really small which is able to fit inside of your kayak.

But, this is only the tent. There are a lot of different camping supplies. You require something to rest on and something to eat from. Surely, you might possibly be able to build a campfire and eat fish which you have freshly hooked, but still you do want the essential gear to light your fire together with the proper equipment to catch fish. It might be helpful to take a little gas fire if you are outside along with the family, instead of having a barbeque night after night. Cups, dishes and also cutlery also will not go amiss.

Another very vital part of camping equipment is your sleeping bag. Most of these are available in a range of distinct materials that are specifically made for various weather conditions. In the event that you have a really excellent sleeping bag, you may not even want a tent. Furthermore there are likewise two person sleeping bags if you are on a romantic camping trip together with your other half.

Nemo Equipment’s Helio Pressure Shower just might be the gear that finally gets me to go camping. This small, freestanding pressure-pump shower derives its heat from the sun and travels light at just about 2lbs all packed up.

Helio’s foot pump and spray nozzle (which comes at the end of a 7-foot hose) provide a steady stream of pressurized water for your warm outdoor rinse-off—which, if its 11-liter bag is full, will last for between 5 and 7 minutes.

Just in time for camping season, The Helio Pressure Shower will be available this June.
