Camping is such a terrific family activity. If you are going to take children with you, it will give them some lasting memories. Anyone who went camping as a kid can attest to that. No matter what you do during the trip, or what the weather ends up being like, it is usually an exciting adventure when you are a child.

Don’t forget to bring the most beneficial things. You will need to bring a tent unless you are planning to rent a cabin or stay in a RV. You will need some minimal shelter for you and your family. Depending on where you are camping, there are many possible things from which you are going to need better protection.

Some of the essential tools of camping include sleeping bags, chairs, flashlights, pillows, batteries, and a hatchet. If you are going to be tent camping, think about getting yourself an air mattress. It will improve the entire trip if you get a decent nights sleep.

Prepare yourself, so you have the necessary supplies for building a campfire. Gather old newspapers or thinner cardboard. Bring matches and a lighter. I like to bring a camping saw and a hatchet. I also like to take my own wood. You might not be allowed to bring in your own wood depending on where you are going camping. Some campgrounds have regulations prohibiting it.

You should think about how you are going to prepare your meals. Think about bringing a cooler for food, propane tanks and stove, plates, silverware, soap, a dish rag and a plastic container for cleaning dishes. Not every state park has the facilities to wash dishes. We usually take plastic and paper plates and silverware.

Put some thought into what kinds of clothing you will probably need for the camping trip. If you plan to go hiking, be sure you have a pair of comfortable hiking boots. You certainly don’t want blisters. Bring loose clothes and shorts if it will be warm. Take some jeans otherwise. Your clothes may become soiled or wrecked, so you shouldn’t wear your best stuff. Don’t forget to pack a swim suit, rain poncho, sweatshirt and a hat. These are must have supplies for any camping trip.

Remember to bring your personal bathroom products for you and your whole family. Pack all of the essentials into a shaving kit. Make sure you bring bars of soap, shampoo, cue tips, deodorant, razors, and shaving cream. Don’t forget to bring contact lens solution if someone wears them. Don’t forget to bring towels for everyone. If you are going to be gone more than a few days, you might want something to hang the towels on to dry out. Don’t forget to bring any necessary medications.

Some other things that you might bring to make the camping trip even better would include campfire popcorn, a lantern, binoculars, digital cameras, mosquito repellent, marshmallows and chocolate bars, beer, cocktails, stogies, Aloe Vera lotion, bandages, sun tan lotion and some tunes.

Bring activities for the young ones. You are going to have a lot more fun on your trip if the children have plenty of things to occupy their time. Besides, half the reason you are going on this trip is for them to have fun too. Bring a football, softball, Frisbee and a kite. Bring anything you can think of that can be done safely outdoors. Make the most of the wide open spaces in most campgrounds.

Create a personalized camping list. There are going to be things that you think are necessary that I have not thought of. Make a complete listing, so you will not forget anything crucial. Some people can not go anywhere without taking a camera, their bike or their favorite pastime.
